Voloids (Saxum vehemens) are silicon-based lifeforms that often resemble large shards or fragments of rock. They appear similar to S-type asteroids due to their highly silicic mineralogy. Enclosed magma chambers operate via a tectonic-like process to sustain and propel voloids in a vacuum; some of this magma can be seen beneath the cracks and scars of a voloid. They may also have ice, minerals, mineraloids, and metals embedded or extruding from their bodies, usually as crystals.
